I can't help but wonder if there's a paradox in all this. Keynes thought all our productivity would open the door to much leisure, but that would require socialization of the mass productivity. But with all the human hedonic adjustments requiring more productivity how do you motivate/incent people to produce more if they can't win relatively? Sorry.
Good observation. This is a challenging question about values and how we create those values and how we treat the maximal gains that arise from marginal advantage. In a a sense it is the original sin of “technology”, which was to create the space for stratification.
