I voted today on a lovely sunny morning in London.

For all my friends in the US and elsewhere, today is a big day for us in the UK. We have a chance to change the government after 14 years of Conservative rule which brought us…

  • Brexit with its massive economic cost, most likely running into hundreds of billions of pounds/dollars/euros

  • The slowest period of GDP growth since WW2

  • National debt at the highest level since the 1960s

  • Developed country investment levels 30% below the aggregate

  • Higher inflation than the US or Eurozone

  • A 250% (or more) rise in violent offences in 14 years and a collapse in the rate of prosecution from 16% to 6% in the past seven years

  • Healthcare waiting lists trebled

  • The record is only distinguished by how shocking it is. Sources can be found in this slide deck or this survey in The Economist.

As I wrote a few weeks ago, 2029 will look very different to 2019.

The next five years will see the exponential transformation — AI and the energy transition — so we will benefit …
