📊 EV’s Charts of the Week #93

www.exponentialview.co

Hi, I’m Azeem Azhar. I convene Exponential View to help us understand how our societies and political economy will change under the force of rapidly accelerating technologies. Every Wednesday, I do this in Charts of the Week.

🚀 The near future delivered to your inbox, weekly.

CHART OF THE WEEK

Global flying is dominated by the richest. But what does that mean? The richest sixth of countries account for half of all flights. Within these countries, only half of the population represents all of the flights. In poorer countries, this share is even more strongly skewed to the wealthiest.

This paper makes a case for a global frequent flyer levy rather than simple carbon accounting of flights.

DEPT OF FINANCIAL CRISES

Negative equity
House price growth has come off the boil in several advanced economies. In fact, the steepness of the decline (the first derivative) roughly matches the collapse in house price growth at the time of the great financial crisis (GFC).
