Matt Prewitt of the RadicalXchange foundation sums up some important ideas of how alternative currencies could support local communities, and reinforce those economies. First they might capture “locally-meaningful information in prices”. This would, in turn, “facilitate more local transactions, as opposed to global ones.” To ensure support of local participants rather than a global average, he even recommends “exit taxes”.
