This week, I look at what’s happening in defence tech, a sector that combines deep tech, security and resilience-building. This broad umbrella category includes software development, novel materials and manufacturing, but also food security and biotech. The field is evolving — exponential technologies are expanding what is possible and needed, there’s an increasing amount of accessible capital, and at the same time — the sentiment around defence is changing — it is no longer taboo to invest or for talent to work in the industry as it may have been before Putin’s war in Ukraine.
