here,In May, we released a Chartpack that delved into studies exploring the transformative potential of genAI in fields such as writing, coding, and call centre work. The results showed the significant promise of the early LLMs, increasing performance across these domains.
Since then, LLMs have had more time to diffuse, and new studies have come out on their reported effects. Importantly, a study on the effects of LLMs on BCG consultantsβ performance was published last month. The key result β for tasks within the frontier of AI capabilities (creative product innovation and development), genAI enabled consultants to complete 12.2% more tasks, 25.1% faster, and with a 40% increase in quality.Β
In addition, it found some other noteworthy effects. These are not as straightforward as you might expect, but they provide granular insight into how LLMs might impact the workforce.
