Hi, it’s Diana Fox Carney here.

In a recent survey, 45% of participants said that improved air quality during the lockdown has made them consider purchasing an electric vehicle (EV). Another 17% said that it had reaffirmed their decision to buy an electric car.

We are certainly beginning to electrify - in 2019, automakers committed $225 billion to electrifying their fleets and the share of electric vehicles reached 2.2% of the global vehicles market - but much confusion remains about the comparative carbon footprint of EVs vs internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

To demystify this subject, I invited one of the leading experts on electrical mobility, Auke Hoekstra, to discuss the numbers and prospects for the future of EVs.
